Am I getting in or out of it? I could be a ghost, an animal, or a dead body, not just this girl standing on the corner.\u201d <\/span><\/i><strong>Francesca Woodman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Named after Andr\u00e9 Breton\u2019s novel, <\/span><b>Athanasia Kanellopoulou<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Nadja \u2013 Who am I?<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a choreographic reverie on the work of American photographer Francesca Woodman. Inspired by Woodman\u2019s fascinating photographs, the piece focuses on the female gaze, the vulnerability of female existence. It seeks to raise questions and concerns about female nature. Four powerful performers meet on stage and take us, each with her special movement quality and choreographic vocabulary, into a world where the body is exposed to the passing of time, pain, expectations, the views of others, but also to its own obsessions, desires, and inner struggles. Each performer follows her own unique trajectory, while all four of them coexist and communicate through female sensitivity, sensuality, strength, and their awareness of aging. As their bodies disappear inside mirrors, turn upside down, become fragmented they find the totality of their earthly dimension, their true and essential self.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column css_animation=&#8221;fadeInUp&#8221; width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1620375881722{padding-right: 35px !important;padding-bottom: 35px !important;padding-left: 35px !important;background-color: #f2f2f2 !important;}&#8221; el_class=&#8221;columna4&#8243;][vc_column_text]            <strong>About ATHANASIA KANELLOPOULOU<\/strong>\r\n        \r\n        <br><br>\r\n        <p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Born in Athens, <\/span><b>Athanasia Kanellopoulou<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> studied dance in London (Rambert <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School) and New York (Martha Graham School), as well as Spanish language and culture. She lived and worked in Europe for more than 18 years, and collaborated with several dance companies, such as Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch (as a guest dancer), Les Ballets C de la B, Jasmin Vardimon Company, Cocoondance, and Alexandra Waierstal among others. In 2008, she began her own choreographic research, influenced by the development of ideas on female identity and nature over the past decades, and has presented her work in festivals in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. As a choreographer, she has collaborated with the ZfinMalta Dance Ensemble, the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD), the Jasmin Vardimon Company (JV2), the Cairo Contemporary Dance Center (CCDC), the Iceland University of the Arts (IUA), the Norwegian College of Dance (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Norges Danseh\u00f8yskole) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the Sareyyet Ramallah Dance Company, and others. She has also taught contemporary dance and choreography worldwide (SEAD, Seoul Arts Centre, CCDC, State School of Dance Athens, Dance Studies University of Malta, IUA, Garage 29 Brussels, Dance Cultural Centre Athens, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul). She is currently working as an independent choreographer and performer. She has been teaching at the School of the Greek National Opera since 2017.
